La Marzocco Naked / Bottomless Portafilter

Bottomless or 'naked' portafilters were originally designed as a training tool. Without the obstruction of a spout, it becomes much easier to see what's happening as the water passes through the tamped coffee. This is particularly helpful for spotting channelling - a frequent culprit when it comes to suboptimal extractions.

This bottomless portafilter is an original La Marzocco part, with the iconic lion emblem. It should make the perfect companion to any home or commercial La Marzocco espresso machine, whether it's as a training tool, or simply for the beautiful look!

Available with the standard rubberised easy-grip handle or, if you are looking for something with a little more pizzazz, it also comes with maple wood and or walnut wood handles

A note on distribution, channelling & spraying

Using a bottomless or naked portafilter can be a humbling experience. If your tamp and distribution aren't exactly right, not only can you get a wonky extraction, you may even experience some spray. That doesn't mean anything is wrong with your portafilter. It, unfortunately, means that there's something wrong with your puck preparation.

Those good old spouts that your original portafilter came with mask those issues, for better or for worse, but now that you've upgraded, you're seeing the naked truth, and sometimes it ain't pretty.
