When it comes to frothing milk, you typically need to keep two variables in mind if you want to get it right: texture and temperature. Taking care of the former comes down to experience, and depends pretty substantially on the kind of espresso machine you’re working with. Getting your milk to the perfect temperature (you’re typically aiming for ~60°C), on the other hand, can be achieved pretty easily with just a little mechanical assistance. 

Most probe thermometers can make this a cinch, but they aren’t perfect. There can sometimes be a slight delay between what your gauge is showing you and what the probe is actually detecting, which can lead to you overshooting your mark. Using thermochromic liquid crystals, this stick-on solution uses coloured squares to indicate the temperature of your milk as you foam, with speed and accuracy.
